Jewellery care

Handmade jewellery requires special care to maintain its beauty and ensure its longevity. Please follow the guide below and refer to the care instructions on each product page to keep your AUSMA jewellery in excellent condition.

Baltic amber

Amber is a natural gemstone (technically a fossilized resin) that is fragile. Please do not knock your jewellery against any hard objects, or use any sharp objects to pierce the amber, as that could cause it to crack and fall off your jewellery.

To care for amber jewellery, avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, perfumes, or cleaning agents, as these can damage its surface. Clean amber gently with a soft, damp cloth and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Regularly inspect your amber jewellery for any signs of wear and handle it with care to maintain its natural beauty.

Sterling silver

Sterling silver is designed for daily wear and can tolerate occasional exposure to water. To prolong the life of your jewellery, store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat, and avoid contact with chemicals.

While sterling silver won't rust, it may tarnish over time due to exposure to air. To minimize tarnishing, wear your sterling silver jewellery regularly and clean any tarnish with a soft polishing cloth as needed.

Natural silk

To prolong the life of your adjustable silk bracelet, it's best to keep it on once it's adjusted, as frequent removal can wear out the natural silk thread.

If the threads become tangled or bent, gently dampen them to straighten them out. Since the bracelet is made from natural silk, avoid exposure to paints and dyes to prevent discoloration.

Freshwater pearls

To care for freshwater pearls, avoid exposing them to perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays, as these can damage their delicate surface. Clean pearls with a soft, damp cloth after wearing and allow them to dry completely before storing them in a soft pouch or cloth-lined box. Keep your pearls away from direct sunlight and excessive heat to maintain their luster and prevent any discolouration.

Authentic gemstones

To maintain the beauty of mixed gemstones like moonstone, quartz, and aquamarine, gently clean them with a soft brush and mild soapy water, avoiding abrasive cleaners. Keep the gemstones away from harsh chemicals and avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures to preserve their natural appearance.
